It is finally here, the new B5 and B5 Mid Mounted buggies from Team Associated. While there was nothing wrong with the B4.2, there was no in house mid mounted motor option, and the platform was looking long in the tooth compared with Buggies from TLR, Team Durango, Schumacher etc.
Few details have been released yet, but like the Serpent buggies, it looks like these buggies are seperate models rather than one model that can be configured 2 ways like the 22 and DEX210.

We all know that RC4WD have some of the best crawler and scale gear out there, and now they have collaborated with Warn to release a licensed version of their 9.5 winch for your crawler. And not only can you get the winch, but you can get a wired or wireless controller for your vehicle in these fantastic scale additions to your rig.
It is a positive avalanche of sponsored drivers in Tasmania this week with Team Xray Australia announcing a third sponsored Tasmanian driver. Drew Butcher is joining the Xray team in 1:8 buggy and truggy classes for 2014.
It is great to see some sponsored drivers in Tasmania, and with Team Xray announcing 3 team drivers around the state in the last week they are obviously looking to make an impression in Tasmania.
Recruit #3!!! Victorian Nigel Spokes is now proud to be part of the XRAY Australia Team. Already driving the XB4 Nigel now has the XB4 2wd to build over the Xmas break. Just remember Nigel, dont use the Carpet setup for Dirt ; )

Let’s start at the beginning, what is VRC? Initially focused on Touring Cars, Virtual RC is an online Radio Control Car Racing simulator! No, it’s not a game, it’s a fully fledged, physics based RC Car simulator that is recommended and used by racers around the world for the last 13 years.
In recent years, and newer releases of VRC and VRC Pro have expanded their user base by an increasing number of tracks, as well as the release of off road tracks and vehicles. Initially off road circuits were navigable by short course trucks, however yesterday marked the release of the nitro 8th scale buggies. Whilst many areas are only available to paid subscriptions, a limited number of areas can be accessed from the free version. You can even buy adaptors to use your own radio in the game. Yes, HPI Racing have updated it’s fantastic Baja 5B SS for 2014!
This massive vehicle weighs in at a hefty 9.6kg, and is 817mm long, and for 2014 it comes with some stellar upgrades! The SS is the “go fast”kit so it comes with a clear body, and needs your own radio gear and throttle servo. However everything else is in the box. The powerful 26cc two stroke petrol engine is still there, but for 2014 it has a new aluminium tuned pipe with a steel header for improved durability. New heavy duty front wheel hubs, and one piece rear hub carriers are included in the kit. One of the most welcome additions comes in the form of Super Heavy Duty Diff Shafts, super Heavy Duty Drive Shafts and Super Heavy Duty Axles.
The new livery in grey and orange looks fantastic as ever HPI kits do. Makes you want a BIG RC buggy doesn’t it!

We spotted down at Launceston RC that they have released the results of the 2013 Tasmanian Drivers Championship. By the looks of it, it was mostly 1:10 electric off road racing over three rounds at three different clubs.
Congratulations to all of those that took a Class Podium, and to Adam Beresford who took the overall win despite not winning a single class!
