As some of you may have seen on their new facebook page, Proline Australia is on an expansion looking to sponsor more Australian drivers. Some of the results for that expansion were announced this morning. Congratulations to Daniel and Steve!

Whereas the Christmas / New Year’s break is a busy time for the Crawlers out there, Racing goes dormant in it’s off season apart from a whole lot of maintenance going on in some quarters. Most racing clubs are starting up racing this or next weekend, so why not post up your details in the comments section here and let everybody know what your club is doing and where. Even better, give us the details to add to our links page!
I never considered myself a Racing driver, more like a basher, taking my cars out to somewhere fun top play when I had the time, but with a young family, and being busy at work my opportunities were becoming less and less. And then a local club started up in my area running electric off road cars and so I went along and had a look. And form there, I was hooked. It really is very fun, competing against others, as well as yourself to better your lap times really is fantastic fun! Fairly soon my RC car collection morphed into vehicles that were being raced at my club, and I was using them more than ever!
So if you are into RC cars, or simply interested in starting out, go to your local club and see what it is all about. Loan or rent a car if you can and have a go, it really is a blast. Whether it’s F1 cars, touring cars, electric off road or nitro off road, get out to your local club and have a look!
There has been some big name driver moves overseas announced over the last few weeks, so I thought I would recap on a couple.
Long time British Tamiya pilot Lee Martin has been confirmed to have moved to Team Yokomo for 1:10 racing.
Horizon Hobby UK have announced the return of Ellis Stafford to the UK/EU TLR team for 2014. Widely respected for his development skills as well as his on-track pace, the former double European Champion will concentrate on TLR’s 22 2.0 and 22-4
HB/HPI Racing have announced that Ty Tessmann has re signed with Team HB/HPI Racing for the 2014 RC racing season. After a successful 2013 season which included winning ROAR National Championships and a podium spot at the IFMAR World Championships.
After much speculation about his future, multiple European Champion Hupo Honigl has been confirmed at Team C
Team Associated posted details of the B5 and B5M a few days ago as a late Christmas present for Team Associated fans around the globe!
The B5M is obviously designed for high traction tracks, based around an alloy chassis it shares 90% of parts with the B5 rear mounted vehicle. The B5 still retains the traditional composite chassis. Both vehicles are designed for a saddle pack or a square pack!

As pointed out by the boys over at Bigsquid RC (Love your work boys), the HPI Octane, first previewed way back in 2012 looks to be ready for release with Tower Hobbies
Listed at around $800 USD, this petrol powered 8th scale truck is set to revolutionise the basher market by bringing petrol engines down to 8th scale. it’s taken HPI a couple of years, and we presume a number of teething issues as the design has subtly changed from what we first saw in 2012, but that is how the best things develop, over time! The Savage platform has proven itself time after time after time over the years as one of the best, so it will be interesting to see how well this vehicle does when it comes to sales, and good old fashioned bashing!
