New Rc4wd 1985 Toyota 4Runner Hard Body

We can finally release details of the new 4Runner body from RC4WD. It has been in our hot little hands for just over a week now and we couldn’t say a word! For those that don’t know the 4Runner, it was basically a Toyota Hilux with an extra row of seats, a roll bar and a removable fibreglass canopy over the tray, and now you can have an Rc one.

Now rc4wd have a reputation for amazing scale products, but I could not believe my eyes at the evel of detail when I opened the box, it was more like a fine scale model than rc model body. Opening doors, bonnet, removable tailgate, even warning label stickers! Newbies beware, some serious model making skills will be needed to complete this body to its full potential.

Needless to say, I will be taking my time to do the model justice, but I am wondering what colour I should paint it, any suggestions? Of course we will be keeping you all in the loop as the build progresses so keep an eye out for updates.

New products from Killerbody

Killerbody has released a whole heap of products lately, but two in particular caught my eye, one in the drift camp, the other in the crawler camp. Unfortunately Killerbody’s facebook page and website have little to no information, so i’ve grabbed the pics form the lads at Big Squid RC.

First is the Marauder body based on the iconic Land Rover Defender.  Certainly similar in many ways to the Axial Dingo body, but showing a lot more detail and of course lots of extra accessories. In fact the while unit is very close to the Defender used in the first Tomb Raider movie. For more photos hit up Big Squid at http://www.bigsquidrc.com/killerbody-rc-marauder-crawler-body/

Next is a complete drift garage from Killerbody.  I love seeing the garages that people build for their drift and rally cars, but I don’t have the scale skills to make them, and this unit from Killerbody is absolutely fantastic.  It includes a bundle of accessories including a smick car lift.

I don’t know if Killerbody have a distributor in Australia, but both of these look great and well worth buying.  Firstly I need a SCX10 to put under that body though I suppose!

7T-GL High Mobility 6X6 Truck from Integy

I can stand (well sit) here hand on heart and say, I didn’t realise that Integy actually made whole vehicles, not just parts and tools.  I know, I must have been living under a rock somewhere, but it was the release of a 6×6 truck this morning that caught my eye, and I was impressed.  Yes, it costs about $1,200 US, but it is an incredible piece of machinery!  Let’s start with the blurb form Integy:

Here it is: our new 1/10 7T-GL High Mobility 6X6 Truck! Realistically modelled after the historical MAN Kat1 series of 7-ton military-spec all-terrain trucks developed for the German Army, our 7T-GL High Mobility 6X6 Truck is a 1/10-scale machine like nothing we’ve ever released before! With the full alloy body, chassis, suspension and drivetrain, this beast tips the scales at over 11 pounds! We have a limited number of these ARTR machines, go here for the full spec:http://www.integy.com/st_prod.html?p_prodid=20876&p_catid=389

There are very few vehicles like this available on the market, and most multi axle vehicles like this are custom builds, something I don’t think I am capable of personally.  So i’d get something like this if I was given the chance!

Vaterra Ascender RTR details released

Perhaps unsurprisingly Vaterra has released details of an RTR version of their Ascender after releasing it as a kit earlier this year, in fact the very first kit from Vaterra. It looks like having a list price of around $400 US and for that you get the same metal ladder frame chassis, a metal gear single speed transmission, CV front shafts, a painted K5 Blazer Body, Waterproof Dynamite electronics, 35t brushed motor, Spektrum DX2E radio and Interco TSL SX Super Swamper® tires.  A pretty good deal to my mind, and it looks to be price competitive with the SCX10 line of vehicles on price at least.

Is waterproof really waterproof

Axial Racing posted an interesting guide yesterday titled “The truth about waterproof” walking about the claims by many manufacturers about their equipment that is waterproof.

Now the crawlers amongst you who have rigs that can survive full immersion in creeks, rivers and lake know exactly how much work and maintenance it takes to make, and keep, a vehicle truly waterproof.

The truth is that most RTR vehicles are Water Resistant at best, but have a read of the article over at Axial for yourself 😉
